En abril, en pleno florecimiento de la primavera, Sakura Kinomoto se matricula en el Instituto Tomoeda, donde comienza su vida como estudiante de secundaria junto a sus amigos, incluido Syaoran Li, que ha regresado de Hong Kong, y una nueva y misteriosa compañera llamada Akiho Shinomoto. Una noche, Sakura tiene un extraño sueño en el que aparece un hombre encapuchado y al despertar todas sus cartas se han vuelto transparentes y han perdido todo su poder… Y por si fuera poco,en la ciudad de Tomoeda se produce un extraño acontecimiento tras otro. Mientras investigan qué es lo que ocurre, Sakura y sus aliados comienzan a utilizar la llave que esta ha encontrado en sueños para encontrar y capturar nuevas cartas transparentes.
